How to Play Connections

In Connections, you’re presented with a grid of 16 words. Your task is to categorize them into four groups of four by identifying the links between them. The groups can vary from horror movie franchises to types of verbs or famous rappers. Each puzzle has a unique solution, requiring careful consideration of words that may fit multiple categories. The words can be shuffled to help discern connections. The groups are color-coded: yellow is typically the easiest, blue and green are moderate, and purple is usually the most challenging, often involving wordplay.

Steps to Play

  1. Select four words that belong together.
  2. Press “Submit.”
  3. If incorrect, you’ll lose a life.
  4. A hint may indicate you’re close if one word is wrong.
  5. Four mistakes result in game over.

Reflections on Today’s Game

Three consecutive perfect games bring my streak to 14. The blue category was apparent immediately, followed swiftly by the green. The yellow category posed some difficulty, especially with “CLEAR,” but a calculated risk proved successful. I didn’t decipher the purple connection before submitting, not recognizing “C-clef” initially but linking the others adequately.
